If you’re looking for the perfect little bacon appetizer for your party, stop right here! Apple bacon bites are always a major hit.
With a bit of freshness combined with the sweet spicy treat of candied bacon, this recipe is very easy to make for when you need a party dish in a pinch.
All you need is apples, brie or cheddar, and candied bacon. You can make the candied bacon in advance and keep it refrigerated for several days. Making the candied bacon is the most time-consuming part, but it’s still very straightforward. Simple coat bacon in a brown sugar an cayenne mixture and then cook until your desired crispiness, about 10 minutes in a pan or 25 minutes in the oven. Cool for at least 15 minutes.

If you’re planning to keep the plate of bacon apple bites out at a room temperature for awhile, you might want to brush the apples with a little lemon juice. That keeps them from browning.
Cheeses that pair best with bacon include Brie cheese, which has a stronger flavor that complements bacon. However, many cheeses go well with bacon. Other cheeses that go well with bacon include pepper jack, gouda, cheddar and Swiss. American cheese, mozzarella, and provolone can go with bacon as well.
The cleanest way to cook sliced bacon is on a baking pan in the oven. Coat the pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper and top it with a baking rack. Lay the bacon slices out flat and cook at 400 degrees for about 18 minutes or until the desired crispiness. For the least messy way to pan fry bacon, use a splatter guard to reduce the grease splashes.
If you’re using Brie, you can serve it at room temperature or slightly warm to get that ideal creamy texture. Brie cheese that is too cold is also typically too firm. You can leave your Brie at room temperature for about 4 hours.
