Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb Ground beef
  • 1 1/2 Cup Water or beef broth
  • 1 Tablespoon Tomaoto paste
  • 1 Chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 White onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes (about 14 ounces)
  • 1 1/3 Cup Pasta (elbow, ditalini, or penne)
  • 2 Cups Tomato sauce
  • 1 Talespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Basil
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 Cup Optional: Cheese (Mozzarella, Cheddar, or Parmesean)

Instructions

  • Cook ground beef, peppers and onions in a pan on medium high heat.
  • Cook until the ground beef is cooked through, when there is no more pink. Then, drain the grease. Add the garlic and cook about one more minute.
  • Add the remaining ingredients: pasta, water (or beef broth), tomato paste, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices and seasonings. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Allow the goulash to simmer for about 20 minutes, until the pasta is tender.
  • Optional: If you want a creamier goulash, add cheese such as mozzarella or cheddar in the last 5 minutes of simmering. Stir occasionally to mix the cheese into the dish.
