- 1/2 lb Ground beef
- 1 1/2 Cup Water or beef broth
- 1 Tablespoon Tomaoto paste
- 1 Chopped green bell pepper
- 1 White onion
- 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1 can Diced tomatoes (about 14 ounces)
- 1 1/3 Cup Pasta (elbow, ditalini, or penne)
- 2 Cups Tomato sauce
- 1 Talespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Basil
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1/2 Cup Optional: Cheese (Mozzarella, Cheddar, or Parmesean)
Cook ground beef, peppers and onions in a pan on medium high heat.
Cook until the ground beef is cooked through, when there is no more pink. Then, drain the grease. Add the garlic and cook about one more minute.
Add the remaining ingredients: pasta, water (or beef broth), tomato paste, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices and seasonings. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Allow the goulash to simmer for about 20 minutes, until the pasta is tender.
Optional: If you want a creamier goulash, add cheese such as mozzarella or cheddar in the last 5 minutes of simmering. Stir occasionally to mix the cheese into the dish.
