Maple Bacon Vodka

If you have trouble finding maple bacon vodka, or maple bacon moonshine, in the stores, you can make your own with this easy recipe. Ingredients include vodka (or a grain alcohol), 6 to 10 slices of cooked bacon and maple syrup. You’ll also need a mason jar.

You can use a maple bacon vodka recipe to create a key ingredient for cocktails like a Bloody Mary or a Manhattan. You can even use it to put a twist on Caesar dressing for salads.

Preparing the bacon, which typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on whether you cook it in a pan or in the oven, is the most time-consuming step. After that, you essentially combine the key ingredients (vodka, bacon, and maple syrup) and let them sit for several weeks.

Using a Fat Wash Method

This recipe uses actual bacon strips in the alcohol to make maple bacon moonshine. But there’s another way to make bacon flavored vodka without using the full bacon, called the fat wash technique.

With a fat wash, you cook the bacon on a cooking rack and allow the grease to drip to the bottom of the pan as it cooks. Then save your bacon for eating or for another use, and use the bacon fat in the alcohol. Shake the mixture every few days and then strain it.

How to Make Bacon Infused Vodka (Bacon Flavored)

Make bacon infused vodka by combining key ingredients and letting the mixture sit for several weeks. First, you’ll need to cook your bacon, either in a pan or in the oven. To pan fry, cook on medium heat for about 4-5 minutes then flip the bacon and cook until your desired level of crispiness, about another 4 or 5 minutes. Drain the bacon strips on paper towels. With the oven method, lie the bacon in strips on a baking pan and bake at 400 degrees for about 10-20 minutes.

Seal the ingredients in a mason jar tightly, and allow it to sit for about 2 weeks. Strain the bacon flavored vodka to remove the bacon slices and any particles out using a cheesecloth.

Discard the bacon slices and remnants. (You can safely eat the bacon, but it likely won’t be tasty!)
